What freebie sites really are?
"There is no such thing as a free lunch"! This famous quote makes us wonder whenever we get a free product, service, or gift. You probably have seen several ads online which say "click here to get a free iPod... " and have thought it as a scam.
Well, now this thought of yours needs a halt as there is a new freebie system which does gives away the free gifts.
Why the thought needs to be changed about freebies sites:
The freebie sites actually can provide a Free Wii, Free Xbox, free PS3 or a 360 Premium because their rich advertisers are paying them to do so. Now in order to get some little return, these freebies sites may ask you to try the advertised product for some time. For instance there are many people who would have signed up with Blockbuster or Video Professor in order to try out their services. Among these people, some would have become a permanent member even after the trial period and some would have chosen to quit! Either way, there would be some amount of credit because of the sign up. The advertisers pay freebie sites and the freebie sites in turn rewards to encourage people to join and with a hope that they would stay!
While some offers have a price range of $1 to 7 for a trial period. This little "pocket change" cost is mainly for the shipping & processing fees. But, there are several offers that are totally free!
There is a "Hot Freebies" link on the right of the freebies sites from where you can choose the cost and credit time for each such offer (With a list of 40 to 100 offers). This however would be the step 2 process; the step 1 is to get yourself signed up with the site.
And finally, the members get the option to refer a couple of friends/referrals to follow the same procedure as done in step1 and step2, and the members in turn get the credit for referrals as the referrals have spent some time in signing up with the advertiser.
Not a pyramid scheme where one referral refers to multiple referrals and so on but a simple try out with the advertisers on their product. The advertisers in turn would pay a good amount of $ 50 -60 and when we calculate all these, the freebie site out of the money they earn, buys the gift for you which includes the tax & shipping cost.
In the beginning everyone would believe it is an illicit pyramid scheme or a scam. To be very honest, I also felt the same way when I visited their site, and that is what everybody assumes before they actually understand about the whole process that works and it's very existence, which is totally legal and a neat system to enjoy the benefits. This kind of marketing is referred as "incentive affiliate viral marketing" where the company offers you with a trial offer and also allows your friends to know about the offer and try them. A thank you note in the form of gift (Can be cash back or a rebate) from the advertiser for the time you spent on their site is so rewarding. Now there is another catch to it from customer perspective, just imagine if you didn't know anything about freebies sites, you want to join Blockbuster and ideally you will go their site and join them. There won't be any return or incentive in this approach. But, now since you already know about the freebie sites, and you also know that advertiser pays a lot of incentives to the freebie sites to provide with a link of their site. When you sign in with the companies (freebie sites) and through them you join their advertisers, the incentive that the freebies get, would be shared with you! It's not even mandatory to become full time member of the advertiser, simply use their product on a trial period. In this manner at least you will gain something!
